Upgrade Bootcamp

Upgrade Bootcamp focuses on merging code and upgrading data to the latest versions on Dynamics NAV. Depending how long time since the application was upgrade and the level of customizations can the expected result vary. At the end of the Boot Camp is it possible to estimate the remaining tasks and determine what to do with ISV products

The Upgrade Boot Camp is not a transformation to the RoleTailored Client. The RTC Boot Camp can be combined with the upgrade if smaller amount of customizations exists or upgrading from a recent version like 5.0 or later. Doing two Boot Camps in a row require some time in between for finish of the classic Client before starting on the RoleTailored transformation.

Before Bootcamp: (Preparation)
Tasks: Upload version of application for review.

Day 1: (Mergetool training, clean-up and merging source code)
Training: Mergetool
Tasks: Merge tables and codeunit

Day 2: (Making the new version compile change integration)
Training: Merging complex objects
Tasks: Finish database with tables, forms and codeunits

Day 3: (Testing application and working with conversion tools)
Training: Upgrade tool-kits
Tasks: Upgrade CRONUS demo data to latest version. Smaller company as a test. Merging or redoing report changes.

Day 4: (Test conversion with real data a roll-out planning)
Training: Dealing with large databases
Tasks:Upgrade actual company from the customer database.

After Bootcamp: (Follow-up and Questions)
Training: Q&A and review of application

Attendees and schedule

The Upgrade Bootcamp is intended for developers and very technical implementers. Typically, the boot camp consists of 2-3 people, plus an instructor. This amount of participants allows for everyone to work in parallel and to get a lot done. Ideally, the boot camp is held away from an office to avoid constant interruptions for phone calls and support requests. We believe that working in a conference room or at an off-site location highly improve the effectiveness of the course.
