Upgrade 2009 to 2013 or later with NAV Easy Security

With the most current version is a conversion tool released too for NAV Easy Security Data from 2009 R2 or earlier to 2013 or later. We recommend NOT using this process for upgrading NAV Easy Security from a NAV 2009 R2 or earlier installation to NAV 2013 or later. The changes done by Microsoft are making the upgrade of Logins very hard if users have been removed from active directory. The Export and Import functions in NAV Easy Security allow a simple way to export all the important data from NAV 2009 R2 or earlier. Then run the normal installation for NAV Easy Security in the NAV 2013 or later and import the data.

A detailed step by step instruction can be found in this document. How to Upgrade Easy Security from NAV 2009 or Earlier Versions

Before starting the upgrade must NAV Easy Security be updated in the NAV 2009 R2 or earlier to the current version of NAV Easy Security. This ensures the data is compatible with the version being implemented in NAV 2013 and later. This is the case either when running the conversion tool or re-installing in NAV 2013 and later.

The conversion tool can be found in the "Conversion and Integration" folder in the latest installation files for NAV Easy Security. We recommend re-installing NAV Easy Security and transfer the data with the Export/Import functions.

The below process can be used to upgrade your data. It is a required that all users in the Login table exists in Active Directory and has not been deleted from inside NAV. Step 8 of the process below is failing if deleted users exists in the converted data. Only running the tables and deleting data can recover from this..
